Amid the great noise
I sought a corner to write
The sorrow of my birth
To return to the womb of the earth
To the black hole
Untouched by the darkness of man
And there
To create life

*

And the days are the Days Between the Straits
And between contraction and contraction
A mother's cry is heard
A searing pain proclaims what had been
Concealed
Before the womb was pierced

And the heart prophesies
That what has now been born

Will no longer be shielded or fortified
Against destruction

*

Words flow from the spring of chaos
From darkness upon the face of the deep
Attempting through utterance
To create
Light
